Pregnancy is the most vulnerable phase of a woman’s life particularly if she belongs to under-served and rural areas in India where poverty, ignorance, lack of education, healthcare and resources are all mitigating factors.
Service Beyond Borders has partnered with Asha Ashram in the past to work in the rural areas surrounding Ranchi in Jharkhand, India. Asha Ashram is located in Bhusur and has 3 centers where it houses children rescued from human trafficking. The year 2020, COVID 19 has caused enormous challenges in all sectors of life not to mention healthcare delivery in the underserved areas. Women lost their local health centers due to closures and prenatal care became non-existent. Expecting mothers were denied care at the time of delivery due to the fear of COVID 19. We began to help by enabling travel of pregnant women to the district hospital for testing and for safe delivery of their newborns.
Our initial survey reveals that there are approximately 40-50 women in the 5mile radius of the Asha Center who deliver every month and are in need of prenatal care.
The Budget for this project is $20 per expectant mom per month to provide for nutitious food, prenatal vitamins, immunizations, labs and more... please join us and donate generously.
