What is the 5K Run being held for?

This is a 5K run being held to spread awareness and promote Healthy Mom, Healthy Baby.

Why run for Healthy Mom, Healthy Baby?

Pregnancy is the most vulnerable phase of a woman’s life particularly if she belongs to under-served and rural areas in India where poverty, ignorance, lack of education, healthcare and resources are all mitigating factors.

The year 2020, COVID 19 has caused enormous challenges in all sectors of life not to mention healthcare delivery in the underserved areas. Women lost their local health centers due to closures and prenatal care became non-existent. Expecting mothers were denied care at the time of delivery due to the fear of COVID 19. We began to help by enabling travel of pregnant women to the district hospital for testing and for safe delivery of their newborns.

What is the role of Service Beyond Borders for this cause?

We hold virtual clinic from the US in the underserved areas for expectant moms for their routine check-ups. We learned early on that the most important resource was food, we began to supply food to all our Moms-to-be. We also distribute prenatal vitamins and iron tablets and

provide transportation to women to hospital. We also provide the appropriate vaccines for expectant mothers.

Runners will receive a race shirt and bottled water. Be sure to register prior to September 20th to be guaranteed a shirt. Award for 1st place and runners-up will be given in adult and children categories.

Where to park?

Please enter the park at the Visitor Center entrance and follow signs for parking for the Picnic Pavillion on the gravel parking lot. Additional parking can be found at other parking areas of the Park.

About the Trail:

The Trail is paved trail around the lake. 

What to bring for the Run?

Bug Spray, Sun screen, Hat/cap, closed shoes, wear loose fitting clothing to cover skin, exposed skin can get allergies and bites.

Where can I pick up registration packets?

Registration packets will be available at the event day at 7:30 am.
